As well as having the delightful dog cemetery Corrigin also holds the Australian record for ‘Dog in a Ute Queue’. Everywhere we see utility vehicles – trucks – with a dog in the back as a typical feature of the roads. Often, these are just flat beds with a dog walking up and down untethered but still hurtling past us.
On 31 October 1998 a convoy assembled 7km outside Corrigin and drove pumper to pumper into town numbering 699 vehicles. The town then beat this record in April 2002 with a staggering 1,527.
