Compare and contrast – the delights of a lovely motel. We’re very lucky to be here in South Tahoe.
It started to rain as we cooked our evening meal at around 4pm and Yasmin wisely decided to put up the tent in case it poured. It did and luckily we remained kind of dry but tent bound for the rest of the day. In the morning the outer fly sheet had frozen. Altitude 7,021ft.
Trail Side Creek after crossing Donner Pass. A hard day and another freezing night. We only have two season sleeping bags and wear everything else we carry to sleep in.
Upper Castle Creek. It’s starting to get a lot colder and the daylight shorter.
Above Mule Ears Creek at 7,277ft.
We’ve dropped off the trail into Sierra City, a tiny town, to pick up our resupply package from the general store. We’ve a room in the River Haven Vacation Home and are looking forward to eating lots. The bathroom had some weighing scales and I’m now 149lbs and just keep losing weight as we hike.
Near Summit Lake where we arrived later than usual. Another cold night but with clear star lit skies.
The weather is turning and we had our first properly cold night after having eaten our evening meal a few miles earlier.
Early morning as we leave Bear Creek with another big climb ahead of us.
After the long climb out of Belden.
